A New Baby in the House

Hello, World!

My mom introduced to me the gentle lifestyle poetry of Edgar Guest.

And even though it's been a great while since I've read my worn book,
I remembered Edgar Guest had written about the pleasure of having a new little person in the family.

I admire how he can write of the simple, ordinary moments of our life that express the joy of living.
I suppose that is why he was called The People's Poet.

One particular poem expresses our love and delight of welcoming Kylee Rose into the family...

A New Baby in the House

Something to talk about, something to do,
Something to laugh at the whole day through,

Something to look at with pride and with glee,
Something for friends to come in just to see;

Something you can't sum up all the wonderful things
Of joy and delight which a new baby brings.

There's a smile that is brighter than sunbeams of May,
A wave of farewell as you're starting away,

A glad time of frolic which no one can steal,
A thrill inexpressible, lovely to feel.

There's something to boast of and something to tell
When a baby has come to the place where you dwell.

There's never an hour that is lonely and drear;
The days are filled up to the top with good cheer.

You have someone to play with and someone to sing to,
Someone to romp with and someone to cling to;

And always you're finding some pleasure that's new
When God has sent down a glad baby to you.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Of course I have enjoyed cuddling and getting to know the baby,
but I have enjoyed watching all the family members fervently embrace her little life.

It's something inexplicable but completely true
that every little bundle of joy comes with their own bundle of love.

What a wonder to see the unique and wonderful life that God has carefully created...

and that He has crazily blessed us with!

It's time for Grandma to wrap things up...
(or maybe it's time for Grandma to put that camera away)

It really is hard to sum up all the wonderful things
of joy and delight that a new baby brings.

We love you, Kylee Rose!
